Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat observed a silent fast against the atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh. He said, an organized effort is being made to destroy social and religious harmony in Bangladesh. On Sunday, on the occasion of Bhaiyyadoon festival, Harish Rawat observed a silent fast for an hour at his residence and protested against the atrocities on Hindu, Buddhist, Christian minorities in Bangladesh. He said, atrocities are being committed by targeting Hindus in particular. Some murders have taken place. Along with this, business establishments are being looted or forcibly closed. Religious places are being vandalized. The banned organization Jamaati Islami is committing all these atrocities under the guise of the Bangladesh government and students. An atmosphere of fear is being created among Hindus, minorities and political opponents throughout Bangladesh. Harish Rawat said, India has made an unprecedented contribution in the creation of Bangladesh. The constitutional democracy which was based on the principle of equality of all religions has been destroyed by the fundamentalist pro-Pakistan forces. This is a matter of concern for us. Rawat lit the lamp and prayed to God to give strength to the forces of democracy and equality of all religions in Bangladesh.
