The government has also decided to impose a cess of Re 1 per bottle on alcohol at the rate of Re 1 per bottle for the purposes of cow protection, women’s welfare and promotion of sports.
At the same time, to prevent adulteration of country liquor, it has been decided to sell it in treta packs instead of glass bottles. The revenue from liquor in the state has been increased to Rs 4000 crore this year. Last year this target was Rs 3600 crore.
Three points were discussed in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday. Many new provisions have been made in the new excise policy of the state. Under this, the prices of liquor in Uttarakhand will now remain at par with Uttar Pradesh. Excise Secretary Harichandra Semwal said that among the license holders who were operating liquor shops in the past, the foreign liquor shop license holders and the foreign liquor shop license holders 15 percent additional fee to re-operate these shops. will be able to do.
The prices of liquor ranging from cheap to expensive brands have been reduced. The prices of commonly sold brands will come down in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 150 and those of expensive brands will come down by Rs 300 per bottle. These include liquor imported from abroad.
