As the time for the Lok Sabha elections is coming closer, the problems of the Congress on the internal front in Uttarakhand seem to be increasing.
Even before the elections, dissidents left the party in various Lok Sabha constituencies. The state organization and the central leadership of the Congress are also uncomfortable with these conditions. An assessment is being made of the possible setback in the election due to the holding of dissent and the departure of leaders.
Loksabha constituency-wise responsibility will be assigned to strong leaders:
As a counter-strategy, strong leaders will be assigned Lok Sabha constituency-wise responsibility, so that it does not recur. The year 2024 Lok Sabha elections has become a litmus test for the Congress.
The party’s concern is to overcome the continuous defeat in Uttarakhand, as well as in these circumstances other political parties other than BJP can become a challenge for it. This is the reason why the Congress does not want to let the BJP get swept away in the third consecutive Lok Sabha elections.
Keeping this strategy in mind, the organization is active in boosting the morale of the workers in the entire state. The hitch in this path is about the growing distance between the party satraps and the claim of the ticket. Due to this, the exercise of removing dissatisfaction in the party is not being successful.
The strategists of the party also believe that the tough challenge being faced by the BJP can be countered only by uniting, but the atmosphere created in favor of the party before the elections has started to be challenged by dissidents.
Candidate not yet selected for Haridwar Lok Sabha seat:
The murmur of discontent is also the biggest concern. The candidate for the Haridwar Lok Sabha seat is yet to be selected, but senior leaders like Manohar Lal Sharma from Roorkee region left the party along with their supporters. Sharma was once considered a strong contender for the ticket in the assembly elections, but even after not getting the ticket, he did not leave the party.
Recently, MP Singh and Tarun Pant from Jaspur of Nainital parliamentary constituency also joined BJP after breaking ties with Congress along with their supporters. MP Singh has been the president of Congress Medical Cell. The party is also of the view that the pre-poll stampede has not sent a good message, although there is a wave of happiness in the BJP camp. The ruling party is seeing this as its growing mass base.
On the other hand, the Congress organization has decided to be cautious in such matters. Along with this, the party high command is also being informed about the situation. Soon, constituency-wise Lok Sabha constituency-wise campaign will be launched to unite the workers with the big leaders.
State Congress President Karan Mahara said that the state organization is closely monitoring the present situation. The reasons for which he left the party, his report has been placed before the high command. The departure of some leaders is not a matter of concern. The party is vigorously preparing for the elections.
