Millets fair will be organized in Nainital and Dehradun – Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi held a review meeting with officials of the Agriculture Department at the camp office on Friday. During the meeting, Minister Ganesh Joshi instructed the officers to spread publicity of millets on a wide scale. The minister also instructed the officials to work in a well-planned manner by preparing a framework for organizing the millets fair. He said that all the preparations should be completed on time for the successful organization of millets fair to be held in Dehradun and Nainital in the month of April.
Minister Joshi told the officers in the meeting that maximum publicity should be given to coarse cereals. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared this year as the International Year of Millets. The minister directed the officers to provide information about the benefits of millets and to encourage farmers towards coarse grains through millets fair announcements.
Apart from this, Minister Ganesh Joshi also gave necessary guidelines to the officers regarding the GI Mahotsav going to be held in Dehradun. About 40 stalls of various departments of Uttarakhand will be set up in the GI Mahotsav to be held in Dehradun. Along with this, cultural program will also be organized in GI Mahotsav. In which many big personalities including ministers of other states will participate. The minister directed the officers to spread wide publicity regarding the five-day GI festival to be held in Dehradun in the month of April.
On this occasion, Secretary Agriculture BVRC Purushottam, Additional Secretary Ranveer Singh Chauhan, Additional Director KC Pathak, Vinay Kumar and other officers were present.
