Amidst the clouds in Uttarakhand, drizzle continued in most areas. However, the sequence of rain may slow down in the state for the next few days. However, showers may continue in some places in the state till the end of September. Monsoon is expected to depart from Uttarakhand in the first week of October. Last year also, the departure of monsoon was delayed by about a week from the scheduled time.
Generally, monsoon enters Uttarakhand at the end of June and departs at the end of September. But, in the last few years, this sequence has moved forward a bit. Monsoon season is considered from June 1 to September 30. However, now the monsoon has started being active till the first or second week of October as well. This time also the departure of monsoon from the country has not started yet.
Monsoon departs first from Rajasthan
Monsoon departs first from Rajasthan and then departs from Uttarakhand after about 10 days. This time, monsoon is active only in the whole country. Showers are still going on in Uttarakhand. For the last three years, monsoon has left the state in October. However, before that, it was confirmed that monsoon would leave by the end of September. According to Rohit Thapliyal, scientist of Meteorological Centre, rainfall is expected to remain slow in most of the areas of Uttarakhand for the next few days. However, there may be rain at some places in between. There is no hope of any change in the weather till the end of this month. Monsoon is expected to leave by the first week of October.
Temperature fell by eight degrees Celsius in a day, coldest September in 10 years
Due to the low pressure line of South-West monsoon passing in Dehradun, there were dense clouds and light rain continued throughout the day. Due to which the mercury also dived and within 24 hours, a drop of eight degrees Celsius was recorded in the temperature of Doon.
With this, Wednesday was the coldest day of September in the last 10 years. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature of Doon was recorded at 25.1 degrees Celsius, before this only on 22 September 2014, the mercury was recorded at 24.9 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, according to the Meteorological Center, the weather is likely to remain dry in most parts of the state today. Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Bageshwar may receive light rain amidst partial clouds. Light snowfall is also possible in areas above 4500 meters. Apart from this, there are chances of rain again around 25 September.
