Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Monday formally announced the dates of the 38th National Games. Accepting the request of Uttarakhand, this event will be held from January 28 to February 14, 2025. With this, the confusion regarding the dates of the National Games also ended. There will be a total of 36 sports activities in the National Games, including 32 approved and four exhibition games. The rich cultural heritage of the country will be taken forward through exhibition games. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that the state is ready for the National Games. This is a golden opportunity for sports and players in the state and the players of the state will wave the flag in the National Games. IOA issued a letter on Monday and approved the date of organizing the National Games in Uttarakhand. A memorandum of understanding was signed in this regard between IOA and Uttarakhand State Olympic Association (USOA). USOA and the state government had agreed to hold competitions in 34 sports activities. In a recent meeting of the IOA President and Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC), it was approved to hold competitions in 32 sports activities and include four exhibition sports. IOA President Dr. PT Usha said that Uttarakhand has promised a historic event of the National Games. This will promote traditional and modern sports in the country. By including four exhibition sports in these, the commitment to honor the rich heritage of the country has been demonstrated, along with this, players will get new opportunities. Sports Minister Rekha Arya expressed happiness over the announcement of the dates and sports competitions of the National Games. She said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had recommended these dates. Uttarakhand is already preparing according to these dates. On the preparations for the games, he said that we are fully confident about our preparations and this event is going to prove to be historic in many ways. He said that this is an unprecedented opportunity for the players of the state. They can give their best performance on home ground. The players are preparing vigorously. There is full hope that this time the state will get a place in the front row in the medal tally.
