Well-known activist Gyanendra Kumar, working against human trafficking, provided detailed information about human trafficking through a presentation. He told the main reasons of human trafficking. Said that child labor, child trafficking for adoption, bride trafficking in the name of marriage, commercial sexual exploitation, human trafficking for human organs and misuse of social media etc. are the main causes of human trafficking. He said that human trafficking is an organized crime, its supply chain needs to be broken in an organized manner. For this, a coordination committee should be formed up to the village level. In which Anganwadi, ANM, ASHA, teachers, village guards should be included, apart from this a meeting should be organized in the village every month. Along with this, the Tehsildar should check the family register every month. So that it can be known that how many girls are married outside the district. If any incident takes place regarding human trafficking, it should be immediately reported to the nearest police station/outposts.
After the workshop, Kusum Kandwal, chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Women’s Commission, while talking to the media, gave the details of disposal of the cases registered by the women and adolescent girls in the commission. He said that a total of 1309 cases have been registered with the State Women’s Commission from April 1, 2022 to the present. Against this, 607 cases have been disposed of and the proceedings are in progress in the remaining 702 cases. In the registered cases, 142 cases of dowry harassment were registered, out of which 67 cases were settled, the action on the rest is in progress. Similarly, one case of dowry death was registered which was disposed of. There were 11 cases of murder/suicide in which 4 were solved. Against 16 cases of rape, 6 were disposed of. As against 8 cases of physical assault, 2 were settled. 134 against 283 for mental harassment and 106 against 233 for domestic violence, 11 against 24 for maintenance, 10 against 31 for property dispute, 1 against 2 for prostitution and 4 against 12 for sexual harassment. Gone. Similarly, 337 cases of life security, 6 missing, pension 1, false allegations 2, illicit relations 20, economic harassment 17, cheating 17, obscene acts/molestation 37 and other 36 cases were registered. Most of which have been disposed of.
