Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday announced that a police station will be constructed on the land freed from encroachment in Banbhulpura area of Haldwani. Referring to the Haldwani violence in his address, the Chief Minister, who came here to participate in the Nari Shakti Mahotsav, said that the manner in which women policemen and other policemen and journalists were attacked by unruly elements cannot be condemned enough. He said that several acres of land from a garden in Banbhulpura has been freed from encroachment. Dhami said, “Today I announce from the holy banks of Mother Ganga that a police station will be built at that place.”
On February 8, miscreants attacked the administrative staff during the demolition of the illegal madrassa and namaz place built in ‘Malik Ka Bagicha’ located in Banbhulpura area. During this period, stone pelting and arson was carried out and Banbhulpura police station was also burnt. In response, the police also used force, in which six people died. More than 100 people, including policemen, were injured in the violence.
The Chief Minister again reiterated that this type of act will not be tolerated at any cost in Uttarakhand and the police is continuously working to arrest the people who hatched this conspiracy. The Chief Minister said, “The law is doing its work. Whoever was behind this conspiracy will soon be brought before the public.”
