Demand for resignation of Railway Minister:
Opposition leaders have demanded the resignation of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav over the train accident.
The Congress said that there are many questions to ask the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister, but these questions will be asked later, as the immediate task is of relief and rescue.
Expressing grief over the accident, senior party leader Digvijaya Singh said that the government had made several claims regarding rail safety, but all proved hollow.
Pawan Kheda said that Kavach is protecting PM Modi, not the general public.
CPI-ML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya asked whether we no longer have any signal or security system in the Railways? Will such incidents become common in the country now?
RJD said that the Railway Minister should resign from his post.
CPI MP Binay Biswam said that the government only focused on luxury trains. Trains and tracks of common people are neglected.
Mamta Banerjee expressed apprehension of conspiracy:
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee described the train accident as the biggest rail accident of the 21st century. Suspecting some conspiracy behind the accident, he demanded an inquiry into it. Mamta said that if the train had an anti-collision device i.e. anti-collision device, then this accident would not have happened.
