The disaster has severely impacted Uttarakhand’s power system. According to the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), it will take approximately 15 more days to fully restore power supply across the state, although the department has already implemented temporary measures to ensure some power supply during the emergency. UPCL stated that the disaster dealt a major blow to the power system, with approximately 1,070 kilometers of power lines damaged. 5,988 power poles were affected, and nearly 419 transformers were damaged or washed away. The disaster caused losses exceeding 51.71 crore rupees. Power outages persisted in many areas during the disaster. While power supply has been partially restored through temporary arrangements, repair work is still ongoing. According to UPCL Managing Director Anil Yadav, the problems included fallen power poles due to landslides, broken wires, damaged transformers due to floodwaters, and feeder failures caused by short circuits or fallen trees. Teams are working to restore power in all affected areas, but in some places, damaged roads or washed-away sections are still preventing access. Large-scale power outages were reported in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, and Uttarkashi districts. Power supply has been partially restored through alternative arrangements. Reaching remote and rural areas remains a challenge. A permanent solution will take approximately 15 days.
