
The population of Shivaji Nagar area located near All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh was shaken by loud explosions on Saturday morning. Everyone came out of the house. Here, smoke was rising from a cow shelter built in street number 18A. It won’t take long to understand what has happened. Three cows tied inside were burnt to death in the massive fire. Ashram Malik illegally accommodates patients and their attendants here. About 12 people were present inside. Somehow everyone saved their lives by running away. A sadhvi has been burnt. Fire brigade and police team reached the spot. Some people present there had an altercation with the police team. Somehow the fire was brought under control. This incident has raised questions on the arrangement of such paying guest houses running illegally in Shivaji Nagar area.
Patients and their relatives coming to AIIMS are accommodated
A person named Moni Baba has built a cow shelter amidst the dense population of Shivaji Nagar. Not only the cattle but also the patients coming to AIIMS and their attendants are accommodated here. No account of which is maintained by the Ashram Swami. When this fire incident occurred on Saturday morning, the police and fire brigade teams faced a lot of difficulty in gathering necessary information. It is said that something was being prepared in the kitchen here early in the morning. There was also a huge pile of straw here which caught fire. A Sadhvi from Haridwar had come here with her parents, she had to go to AIIMS, she too got burnt in the fire. According to the police, about 12 people were staying here at night. This ashram has been built by encroachment on the drain passing through Shivaji Nagar. AIIMS outpost in-charge Vinesh Kumar, who reached the spot, said that the fire has been brought under control and the entire matter is being investigated.
