The government has received a setback from the Supreme Court regarding the matter of getting the scam in the Horticulture Department investigated by the CBI. Nainital High Court had ordered a CBI investigation into this matter. The government challenged this order in the Supreme Court, but the review petition related to it was rejected there. When the case of rigging in the distribution of apple saplings in the Horticulture Department came to light, social activist Deepak Kargeti had approached the High Court. However, in this case the government had suspended the then Horticulture Director Dr HS Baweja. Also, SIT was formed to investigate the matter.
CBI rejected the petition
While hearing this case, the High Court had ordered a CBI investigation into the matter. This order was challenged by the government in the Supreme Court. The petition related to this was heard on Tuesday. It was told that the Supreme Court rejected this petition. A senior government official said that official information regarding this has not been received yet, but such information has been received through various communication mediums. Something can be said about this only after getting the court order.
Government has constituted SIT
On the other hand, BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt said that the decision of the Supreme Court in the matter of Horticulture Department is respected. He also said that the government had constituted SIT in this case and the intention was to bring the culprits within the ambit of the law. He said that the government is following the policy of zero tolerance on corruption and is ready to investigate all types of cases against corruption.
BJP’s sarcasm on Congress
BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt said that the SIT has sent the accused behind bars in many cases related to recruitment scam and land fraud. Accusing Congress, he said that Congress patronized recruitment scams. The government has also been in favor of impartial investigation in the garden case and in view of this, SIT was formed and it had also started the investigation.
