The process of marriage registration in Uniform Civil Code has become easy, now this document will not have to be uploaded

admin April 18, 2025

Under the Uniform Civil Code, the applicant will no longer need to upload his photo for marriage registration on the portal. This photo will be automatically taken from the Aadhar card. Also, the requirement of video KYC of the witness for approval of previously registered marriage has been abolished. The process of making the registration certificate received under the Uniform Civil Code available on Digi Locker is now underway. So far 46 applications have been received in the state for living in live-in. On Wednesday, a review meeting was held regarding the registration of various services under the Uniform Civil Code under the chairmanship of Secretary Home Shailesh Bagauli. It was told in the meeting that about 94,000 applications have been received on the UCC portal so far.

On an average 174 applications for registration of various services

Out of these 73,093 applications are related to marriage registration, 19,956 applications for acceptance of registered marriage, 430 applications for will and inheritance, 136 for nullity of divorce and four applications for inheritance without will. Out of these 89 percent applications have been accepted and about five percent have been rejected, the process is in progress on the remaining. On an average 174 applications are being received by the districts for registration of various services under the Uniform Civil Code. In the meeting, the Home Secretary has directed all the District Magistrates to organize public awareness camps for registration of services related to the Uniform Civil Code. He also emphasized on 100 percent registration of personnel. He said that in the districts where applications are being rejected, the reasons for this should be reviewed. It was also told that now only 382 Gram Panchayats are left in the state from where no applications of any kind have been received.

Instructions to ensure privacy of live-in
The Home Secretary has instructed all the District Magistrates to ensure privacy in cases of live-in registration. He said that it is being seen that at many places, applications and registrations of live-in are being reported. Due to this, there is a possibility of breach of privacy of the applicants. In such a situation, privacy should be maintained in live-in cases. Additional Secretary Home Nivedita Kukreti and Director ITDA Nitika Khandelwal and other officials including the District Magistrate were present in the meeting through online medium.
