After the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill, which has become a topic of discussion across the country, when the provisions of this law will be implemented, the real picture of the Waqf properties located in Uttarakhand will also come out. Till now, 2147 Waqf properties are registered in the Uttarakhand Waqf Board, out of which 5388 are immovable properties. Out of these, only the records of 2071 have been digitized so far. Records of a large number of Waqf properties are not available. There is a dispute in most of the properties. When the survey will be done after the implementation of the new law, the real situation will come out.
The Waqf Board was formed in 2003
The Waqf Board was formed in Uttarakhand in the year 2003. After this, the registration of Waqf property (land) was started in the board, but its pace was very slow. You can guess from this that only 2146 Waqf properties have been registered so far, whereas it is estimated that this is happening on a large scale in the state. It is said that when the board was formed, it got only incomplete records. Records of Haridwar and Dehradun were then sent from Revenue District Saharanpur, but they were returned. As a result, disputes regarding Waqf properties are also the highest in these districts. Not only this, there has been no survey of Waqf properties after the year 1984. After the implementation of the Waqf Amendment Act, like other states, there will be a survey of Waqf properties in Uttarakhand as well.
Records related to Haridwar and Dehradun sought
According to Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams, the survey will make it clear how many Waqf properties are there in the state. He said that records related to Waqf properties of Haridwar and Dehradun have also been sought from Saharanpur. He said that after the implementation of the amended Waqf Act, there will be transparency in all matters and the Waqf Board will be able to actually serve the poor and the needy. The Chairman of the Waqf Board said that now all Waqf Boards will work in collaboration with the governments. Homes, modern madrasas, universities, hospitals will be opened for the needy on Waqf land. Pension can also be given to the needy. Along with this, Waqf Boards will be able to take steps to increase their income.
