
The exercise to implement the Uniform Civil Code law in Uttarakhand has reached the final stage. After making the law and rules, now the work of training the employees is being started. For this, the responsibility of training has been entrusted to CSC SPV (Common Service Center Special Purpose Vehicle) formed by the Central Government. About 1500 personnel of all the departments related to the implementation of Uniform Civil Code will be given training up to the block level. The government has set a target to complete this training by January 20. An amount of Rs 80 lakh has also been approved for this.
Web portal and mobile app ready
Web portal and mobile app have been prepared to implement the Uniform Civil Code in the state in a simple and transparent manner. Now they are being tested. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced the implementation of Uniform Civil Code law in the state this month. To provide equal rights to all the citizens in Uttarakhand, the state government has enacted the Uniform Civil Code law. It has been approved by the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Rules have been made to implement the provisions of this law.
Training will be given to the personnel
Now, to implement the law on the ground, the personnel will be trained. For this, a list of personnel of the related departments like revenue, police, local bodies, Cantt Board and prosecution etc. is being prepared up to the block level. CSC SPV will provide training to all the officers to understand the procedures of the Uniform Civil Code and to implement them. To ensure the convenience of officers and citizens, three departments will set up help centers. Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) will operate these centers for technical support, CSC SPV for training and the prosecution department to provide legal assistance to all stakeholders.
Instructions to decide the place for training
On Saturday, Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli held a meeting with Additional Home Secretary Nivedita Kukreti, Local Commissioner and Nodal Officer Training Ajay Mishra and Director ITDA Nitika Khandelwal along with all District Magistrates, Chief Development Officer and Sub-District Magistrates and instructed everyone to decide the place for training.
Main provisions of Uniform Civil Code
Registration of marriage is mandatory
Second marriage is completely prohibited while husband and wife are alive
Husband and wife have equal right to divorce in all religions.
Equal property rights for daughters in all sections of all religions and communities.
Ban on the practice of Halala and Iddat prevalent in the Muslim community.
No difference between legitimate and illegitimate children for property rights.
Registration is mandatory for live-in relationships.
