Congress has commented on the state government’s move regarding Uniform Civil Code. The party said that if the Uniform Civil Code is in the national interest, then instead of imposing it only on Uttarakhand, the Dhami government should get it implemented from the Center in the entire country. State Congress chief spokesperson Garima Dasauni said in a statement that even if Uniform Civil Code is implemented in Uttarakhand and not in the country, then there will be no justification for it. Anyway, Uniform Civil Code is a central subject. If in future the Central Government brings Uniform Civil Code in the country, then in that case the Uniform Civil Code of Uttarakhand will go on the back burner.
Dhami government is not serious on civil code
He also alleged that the Dhami government is not serious about the Uniform Civil Code. Earlier, representatives of opposition parties were also invited to give suggestions in the draft of this code. But, even after State Congress President Karan Mahara wrote a letter thrice, he could not get the draft from the expert committee. He said that being the main opposition party, Congress wanted to know what important points had been ignored in the draft, only then it could give suggestions to the government.
The government is eagerly waiting
The government is also eagerly waiting for the draft of the Uniform Civil Code. After receiving the draft, the government will study it and give it the form of a bill. Then a session of the Assembly will be called to pass it in the House. In such a situation, the session may happen soon. This point is also getting strengthened because the expert committee had written a letter to the government regarding the calculation of the goods given to the office allotted to it, requesting the deployment of a responsible officer. For this, an Additional Secretary level officer has also been deployed by the government.
