The MLAs who cross-voted include Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma, Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana, Kutlaihar MLA Devendra Bhutto, Gagret MLA Chaitanya Sharma, Lahaul Spiti MLA Ravi Thakur and Badsar MLA Inder Dutt Lakhanpal.
Whereas three independent MLAs also voted in favor of the BJP candidate. After cross voting in Himachal Pradesh, BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan defeated veteran Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi on a Rajya Sabha seat. Even after cross voting, the candidates of both the parties got 34-34 votes, after which the winning candidate was decided through a toss.
