Uttarakhand has received the award of the best adventure tourism state of India in a two-day conference organized by ATOAI (Adventure Tour Operators Association of India) in Kevadiya, Gujarat. This award has been received by Tourism Secretary Sachin Kurve representing Uttarakhand and Colonel Ashwini Pundir, ACEO Adventure Tourism. On this occasion, Secretary Kurve said that this award has been given for various activities including rafting, paragliding conducted in the field of adventure tourism in the state. Said that this award is the result of various efforts being made by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council. Over the last one year or so, UTDB has taken several steps to promote the State as a leading adventure tourism state in the country.
Some of the steps taken by the department to promote adventure tourism include exemption in operator fees for water activities like kayaking and rafting in rivers other than Ganga such as Sharda, Alaknanda, Tons and Bhagirathi etc. Due to which employment opportunities will be available in the area. State Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj has congratulated the department for this achievement.
