Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami planted trees in the Chief Minister’s residence complex on the occasion of Harela festival. He planted a sapling of Pusha superior variety of mango. The Chief Minister said that Harela is a festival of conservation and promotion of nature. On the occasion of Harela festival, tree plantation will be done on a large scale through social organizations, institutions and departments in the state.
The Chief Minister said that several efforts are being made in the state in the direction of water conservation and revival of water streams. Everyone has been called upon by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come forward for water conservation and promotion in the country. Rapid work is being done in this direction in the state. More than 1200 Amrit Sarovars have been built in the state. Continuous work will be done in this direction.
Geeta Pushkar Dhami and cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi also planted trees on the occasion of Harela festival. On this occasion, 51 saplings of different species were planted at the Chief Minister’s residence. On this occasion, Additional Secretary Ranveer Singh Chauhan, Chief Forest Conservator Van Panchayat Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Chief Horticulture Officer Dr. Meenakshi Joshi, Horticulture in-charge Deepak Purohit were present.
Harela festival organized at International Cricket Stadium:
Harela festival was organized at International Cricket Stadium located in Raipur in Doon. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal, Tehri Sansad Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, Principal Secretary Forest RK Sudhanshu and Chief Forest Conservator Anoop Malik started the program by lighting the lamp.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wished the people of the state on the occasion of Harela festival. Said that this is the day for introspection and to move ahead with determination. We should not limit ourselves to just one program. Make it a part of your daily routine. Take a pledge to plant a sapling and take care of it. Said that it is necessary to revive the natural water sources. Plant more and more water harvesting plants. The existence of non-Himalayan rivers of Uttarakhand is in danger. Water is decreasing in the sources of origin of these rivers. As against 988 MLD, only 648 MLD water is being supplied across the state. This has to be seriously thought about.
Folk singer Padmashree Dr. Madhuri Barthwal and her team presented Mangal Geet in the programme. Folk dance was presented by the students of Atal Utkrisht Government Inter College Souda Saroli. During this, saplings were planted in various forest divisions of the state with public participation. Whose live streaming was done at the venue. In 45 forest divisions, places have been identified for Harela forest. Where plantation will continue for five years.
Plantation at different places in Kotdwar:
Saplings were planted at different places of Kotdwar on the occasion of Harela festival. Divisional Forest Officer Naveen Pant inaugurated the plantation program at Lalpani under Kotdwar range of Lansdowne Forest Division. On the other hand, plantation was done under the leadership of Parineeta Kandwal on the banks of river Malan in Haldukhata.
