He said that in the department where there are no biometric machines or there are not enough machines, arrangements for them should be made in time. Where the machines are faulty, they should be repaired.
This topic came up in the meeting of the Secretary Committee held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. During this, it came to light that biometric attendance is not being recorded in many departments and offices. Departmental officers and personnel are showing indifference in this. In some places, machines have not been purchased for this yet. Where the machines are faulty, they are not being repaired. Taking this matter seriously, the Chief Secretary gave instructions to make biometric attendance compulsory from May 1. In line with his instructions, the General Administration Department has issued orders in this regard to all departments and districts.
Orders given to all department heads and district magistrates
In the order issued by Secretary General Administration Vinod Kumar Suman, it has been said that all the department heads and district magistrates should review the biometric attendance system in their departments and take action to implement it 100% in the offices. The government had issued guidelines to implement the biometric system in all government offices in May 2022. It has been clarified that it will be mandatory for all officers and personnel to register biometric attendance 15 minutes before the scheduled time for opening the office and at the scheduled time for leaving.
