Preparations for the Char Dham Yatra 2026 have been finalized, with authorities ensuring smooth arrangements for pilgrims. A major step in this direction is the setup of offline registration facilities at the transit camp in Rishikesh, where a total of 30 registration counters will be operational to assist यात्रियों.
Out of these, 24 counters have been established within the transit camp area, while six additional counters have been set up near the ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal) to handle the increasing flow of pilgrims. Furthermore, after the opening of Gurudwara Singh Sahib, four more counters will also be made operational there, enhancing accessibility for devotees arriving at different points. As of now, 30 counters are fully prepared and ready to begin operations.
The formal inauguration of the Yatra arrangements will take place on April 18 at 11 AM, led by Pushkar Singh Dhami. Shortly after, on April 19, the sacred portals of Gangotri Temple and Yamunotri Temple will be opened for devotees, marking the official commencement of the pilgrimage season.
One of the key highlights this year is the availability of 24-hour registration services. Authorities have ensured that pilgrims can register at any time of the day, reducing congestion and long waiting hours. Staff deployment will be adjusted based on the flow of pilgrims, ensuring efficient management at all times. Currently, around 105 personnel have been assigned to handle the registration process.
In addition, 30 mobile teams have been deployed to further ease the process. These teams will visit ashrams, dharamshalas, and other accommodation sites to register pilgrims on the spot. The mobile registration service will be available at locations where at least 20 or more pilgrims are staying, eliminating the need for them to travel to the transit camp.
For registration, Aadhaar card is mandatory for Indian citizens, along with biometric verification and a photograph. For foreign nationals and NRI pilgrims, passport identification is compulsory. These measures are aimed at maintaining proper records and ensuring safety throughout the Yatra.
Officials have emphasized that this year’s arrangements are focused on making the pilgrimage more organized, secure, and convenient. With improved registration systems, extended service hours, and mobile assistance, the administration aims to provide a hassle-free experience to thousands of devotees expected to participate in the Char Dham Yatra 2026.
