Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed all the District Magistrates that all the preparations should be completed before the Chardham Yatra. He said that the state government is taking special care of the convenience of the devotees. Regular review of smooth and safe Chardham Yatra is also being done.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday participated in the table top mock exercise program organized by the National Disaster Management Authority for the successful operation of Chardham Yatra at the State Emergency Operation Center located at the Secretariat.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister took information from the District Magistrates of Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi about the preparations being made in connection with the yatra. He said that from the point of view of disaster management, the mock exercise done before the start of the yatra would increase coordination between various institutions of the central and state government.
At the same time, after the mock exercise, Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha instructed to immediately prepare a DPR and send it to the government to repair the water tanks built by the Drinking Water Department at various places to deal with the disasters caused by fire.
He also talked about conducting silent mock exercise soon to improve disaster management. During this, it was told that the National Disaster Management Authority has suggested changes in the disaster relief system for the successful operation of Chardham Yatra and disaster management and effective coordination between all the affected institutions.
Along with this, latest technology in disaster management work, use of drones, GIS mapping of all resources, as well as preparation of effective disaster management plan by the hospitals.
Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, Dr R Rajesh Kumar, Inspector General SDRF Riddhim Agarwal, NDMA member Major General Sudhir Behl and IRS expert VB Ganayak and other officers were present in the programme.
