Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stood firm on the front as soon as he returned from his stay in Delhi. On Tuesday morning, he directly reached the State Emergency Operation Center located at the Secretariat and inquired about the damages caused by excessive rains across the state. Also took the details of the situation over phone from the District Magistrates of Tehri and Pauri.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that a large number of people have been affected due to excessive rains. Some have lost their near and dear ones. Many people have become homeless. Some children have lost their parents. He said that a scheme for rehabilitation and employment of homeless people in disaster and training for orphans and education of orphan children is being brought soon.
Details of damage and rescue steps sought
The Chief Minister took district-wise details of the damage caused and the steps taken for rescue and relief from the officials of the Disaster Management Department. He said that the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in most of the districts for the next two days as well. He instructed all the District Magistrates to keep the administration on alert mode as well as to maintain constant coordination with the allied organizations. Adequate availability of medicines along with all the items related to food grains should be maintained in the districts.

CM Dhami instructed the high officials of the government as well as the Secretary Disaster Management to maintain constant coordination with the District Magistrates. He said that there is a disaster situation in the state due to excessive rains. Roads, bridges, buildings, crops, electricity and drinking water lines have been damaged. So far, a loss of more than one thousand crore has been estimated in the state. The central government team has also done a preliminary survey of the damage. A letter is also being sent from the State Government to the Center to assess the damage.
Red alert of heavy rain continues
Intermittent heavy rains are continuing in most areas of Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri, Nainital, Bageshwar, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar for the next two days. On the other hand, there are chances of showers with thunder and lightning in other districts. In view of the Meteorological Department’s warning, a holiday has been declared for schools in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Haridwar, Nainital, Bageshwar and Champawat.

For the last three days, life is in trouble in some districts of the state due to heavy rains. Especially in Dehradun, Pauri and Tehri districts, it is raining from the sky. Landslides, floods and water-logging due to excessive rains have caused significant damage in some areas. On the other hand, heavy rains in Nainital and Bageshwar have added to the difficulties. Now for the next two days, eight districts of the state may be hit harder.
According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, a red alert has been issued for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in eight districts of the state for the next two days. In which Dehradun, Pauri and Tehri are more sensitive.
