The committee had sought suggestions from the institutions
During its tenure of about one year, the committee had invited suggestions from various sections of the society, political parties along with voluntary organizations to make the existing land law more stringent in the state. The committee had also called for the report received from the districts regarding the exemption given in the land use after the year 2003 in the state. The committee had submitted its report to the government in September last year. The committee has made 23 recommendations keeping in view the possibilities of investment along with stopping the uncontrolled purchase of land.
The report will be laid on the table of the assembly
In order to prevent the misuse of land purchase, the committee has insisted on giving permission for land purchase from the government level instead of the District Magistrate. The government has constituted a cabinet sub-committee to study the report of the committee. This report along with the recommendations of the sub-committee will be placed in the cabinet. After this, it will be placed on the table of the Vidhansabha, so that a new strong land law can come into existence.
