Health facilities will be developed in the local body areas of the state. On the recommendation of the 15th Finance Commission, an amount of Rs 32.53 crore has been given to strengthen the infrastructure of various health centers under the civic bodies. Finance Additional Secretary C Ravi Shankar has issued orders in this regard to the Director of Medical, Health and Family Welfare and Director of Panchayati Raj.

On the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, arrangements have been made for financial assistance to the health sector through local bodies. Finance Additional Secretary C Ravi Shankar said that this amount has been released in the financial year 2023-24 as per the approved action plan for the financial year 2022-23. An amount of Rs 13.60 crore has been provided for diagnostic infrastructure in primary health care facilities in health sub-centres in rural areas. An amount of Rs 12.52 crore is earmarked for primary health centers under this head.

An amount of Rs 3.29 crore has been given for the provision of essential facilities in primary health centers in urban areas. An amount of Rs 1.82 crore has been made available for setting up public health units at the block level, strengthening laboratory services for disease surveillance, diagnosis and public health. An amount of Rs 1.32 crore has been released for building-less sub-centres, community health centers and primary health centres.
