The efforts of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the field of air service in Uttarakhand have been a big success. The Central Government has upgraded the license for public air service at the aerodrome built in Nainaisaini, Pithoragarh. Now it will be a 2C category aerodrome. This means that a 42 seater airplane can be landed here. Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for issuing the license, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that with the cooperation of the Centre, air services are continuously being strengthened in the remote areas of the state. In the strategically important Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, the government started air service on Dehradun-Pithoragarh air route under the UDAN scheme in the year 2018.
Earlier only nine seater airplanes were allowed to operate here. On this basis the government started operating nine seater airplanes. This service was operated between Dehradun to Pantnagar and Pithoragarh. It was discontinued in March 2020. After the Corona period ended, Chief Minister Dhami had approached the Center to start this air service. After this, the Center cleared the way for operating air services by issuing a Class 2B license.
The services of this category of aircraft have started this month. Now the Center has issued the license to upgrade the aerodrome. With this, big airplanes will be able to land here.
