Private hospitals of the state are ‘playing’ in the Ayushman scheme. When an Ayushman card holder is admitted, some hospitals are charging him for various tests. Whereas all these tests are included in the respective package. That means, along with the claim, the hospital is also recovering this amount from the patient. Such complaints are continuously reaching the State Health Authority. On which the authority has issued notice to all the listed private hospitals. Let us tell you, by implementing Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana, the state government has included every family of Uttarakhand under the ambit of health insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh per year.
These facilities are available under Ayushman Yojana
Under the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Scheme, Ayushman cards of 55.16 lakh people have been made in the state. 102 government and 152 private hospitals are listed under the scheme. At the same time, 26 specialist services, 917 packages and 1671 procedures are included in this scheme. When an Ayushman card holder is admitted to the hospital, his treatment is provided completely free of cost. Radiology and pathology tests are also included in the prescribed package for any disease. Not only this, there is a provision to provide free medicines for 15 days to the patient after discharge.
private hospitals are rigging
Some private hospitals are making irregularities in the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand scheme. The diagnostic lab run in the hospital is said to be outsourced and they are charging money from the patients in the name of testing. On receiving such complaints, Dr. VS Tolia, Director-Claim Management of the State Health Authority, has issued a notice to all the listed private hospitals.
Provision of penalty on illegally taken money
In the notice issued by the State Health Authority, it has been said that demanding money from the beneficiaries of the scheme is a violation of the terms of the contract between the State Health Authority and the hospital. There is also a provision of penalty in the guidelines of the National Health Authority for the amount of money taken illegally from the hospital. In such a situation, the hospital should ensure that free treatment is provided to the beneficiaries of the scheme based on the terms and conditions of the contract.
Action will be taken against the hospital
According to Dr. VS Tolia, Director-Claim Management of the State Health Authority, if any complaint is found against any hospital regarding unauthorized demand of money, then action will be taken against the hospital as per rules.
