Rahul Gandhi met geologists and environmentalists, asked the workers to help the affected

admin January 16, 2023

Former National President of Congress, Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, environmentalist Dr. Shekhar Pathak, Professor BS Butola and Prof. Met Prakash Upadhyay and discussed the Joshimath disaster.
He also spoke to Congress State President Karan Mahara on this issue and called upon the Congress workers to provide all possible help to the affected people in the disaster-hit area.
State Congress Vice President Organization and Administration Mathuradatt Joshi said that while expressing concern over the disaster caused by landslide in Joshimath, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that along with ensuring immediate rehabilitation of the affected, this historical and religious place should be in Joshimath town. Concrete steps should be taken to save it.

He said that the pictures of the present condition of Joshimath are quite frightening. Joshi said that geologists and environmentalists, who are accompanying Rahul Gandhi in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, taking the Joshimath disaster issue seriously, suggested them to protect life, property and environment and said that large construction works and tunnel digging should be stopped in Joshimath area. The work should be stopped immediately.

12 agencies are probing the landslide in Joshimath:
Badrikedar Temple Committee President Ajendra Ajay said that the central and state governments are working fast regarding the landslide in Joshimath.
Twelve reputed agencies of the country are preparing the survey report after probing the landslide in Joshimath. The government is keeping an eye on this so that misleading information does not reach the public. He said that there are more than 400 landslide prone areas in the entire state. These will also be surveyed and all possible help will be given to the affected.
While going from Karnprayag to Joshimath on Sunday, Ajendra Ajay said this while sharing the information of Joshimath landslide area with the BJP workers in the local Laj.
He said that the Central Government has taken immediate cognizance of the Joshimath case and has taken action, while Home Minister Amit Shah is also directing the officials keeping an eye on Joshimath. Information related to the disaster is being monitored at the PMO level.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stayed at Joshimath for the night and met the affected people door-to-door and assured them of help. He said that the Central Government and the State Government are preparing a detailed package for the displacement, rehabilitation and other works of the affected people in other landslide prone areas including Joshimath.
Apart from being the gateway to the Himalayan region, Joshimath is an important religious town at the entry point of Lord Badrinath. The religious Sanatani culture here is world famous. Earlier, BJP workers welcomed Badrikedar Temple Committee President Ajendra Ajay on his arrival here. On this occasion, the workers also informed about the landslide area in Karnprayag. During this Mahipal Negi, Dhirendra Bhandari, Subhash Chamoli, Lakshmi Joshi and other workers were present.

Prediction unnecessary until report on Joshimath: Bhatt
BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt has asked all political parties and social parties to refrain from predictions and negative comments regarding Joshimath till the final report comes.
He said that everyone is committed to solving the problems of local residents and landslides in Joshimath city. In such a situation, unnecessary discussion like the crisis on the existence of the city can be harmful for the image of the tourism region. He has also appealed to all parties to come forward to help the affected.
In a statement on Sunday, the BJP state president said that ever since the landslide disaster came to the fore, the administrative system under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been working on a war footing on two fronts. The government has given financial assistance for the immediate help of the affected. At the same time, the expert agencies of the country are conducting a thorough survey in the affected areas.

He said that at present one-fourth of the city is affected by landslides. An image is being created that the existence of Joshimath is going to end. Such sharing of information is causing confusion among not only the affected but also citizens across the country.

He said that as soon as the conclusion of the joint report of the expert agencies would come out, the state government would start solving it without losing time. He urged all political parties to come forward to help the affected but not to spread fear among the tourists visiting the mountains through their reaction.
