Uttarakhand will get relief from the increasing power crisis with the onset of summer. The Central Government has allocated 150 MW electricity to the state as additional quota for the next three months i.e. from April 1 to June 30, 2024. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had requested the Central Government in this regard. Getting additional quota will help in maintaining smooth power supply in the state.
extra quota of electricity
Earlier, on September 19, 2023, the Central Government had given additional quota of electricity for the period from October to March, 2024. Additional electricity has been provided to the state since the beginning of April of the financial year 2023-24. The state government is getting 10 to 11 million units of electricity daily from its hydropower projects. This is much lower than the total daily demand of 47 million units. In the peak summer season this demand increases to 50 to 55 million units per day. That is why the state has to knock on the rates of the Center and various states to maintain normal electricity supply. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had requested Union Energy Minister RK Singh to give additional quota of electricity for summer. This initiative of the Chief Minister bore fruit.
This specific allocation of 150 MW will help in maintaining normal power supply during summers. Chief Minister Dhami has expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for this special allocation of electricity.
