Uttarakhand’s Chardham closed during the eclipse period, devotees are not allowed to have darshan

Today there is a solar eclipse on 25 October. During this all the four Dhams of Uttarakhand have been closed. After the eclipse period ends on Tuesday evening, the doors will be opened in the temples after cleaning and worship will be done. During this time devotees will not be allowed to have darshan.
Due to the eclipse, Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on 26 October and Bhaiya Dooj on 27 October instead of 25 October. This year’s Deepotsav will be of 6 days instead of five days. The Sutak period has become effective from 12 hours before the eclipse. The eclipse can be seen in some parts of the world including India.

Four Dhams including Badrinath, Kedarnath closed:
The four dhams including Badrinath, Kedarnath are closed on the day of solar eclipse on 25 October. All the temples of Uttarakhand were closed just before the eclipse. After the eclipse ends, the evening worship and aarti will be completed by cleaning the temples.
According to the calendar calculations, the doors of the temples will remain closed during the eclipse period from 4:26 am to 5.32 pm on Tuesday, October 25.

Gates of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham closed:
The doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham have been closed due to the Sutak period of solar eclipse. After Ganga Aarti at 7:00 am in Gangotri Dham, the doors of the Gangotri Temple Committee and other pilgrimage priests were closed due to Sutak period.
Apart from this, the doors of Yamunotri Dham were also closed due to Sutak period. The doors of Vishwanath temple and other temples of Uttarkashi have been closed.

The eclipse period will last till 5.32 pm:
The eclipse started on October 25, 2022 at 4:26 am.
According to the Panchang, the eclipse period will remain till 5.32 pm today.
