The weather in Uttarakhand has been dry for the past several days and the mercury has also reached record levels. However, on Tuesday afternoon, the weather changed and showers have started in many districts including Dehradun. After bright sunshine since morning, showers suddenly occurred in many areas. During this time, Ranikhet recorded the highest rainfall of 13 mm. At the same time, Doon also received five mm of rain.
Yellow alert issued
According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, there are chances of partial clouds hovering in most areas of the state today. Especially in the mountainous districts of Kumaon, there may be intense spells of rain with thunder and lightning. A yellow alert has been issued regarding this. Partial clouds in Dehradun along with humidity can make life miserable. There are chances of light rain at some places after noon.
Weather will change from today
According to the Director of Meteorological Center, Bikram Singh, the monsoon activity in the state is currently slow. Heavy showers with thunder and lightning may occur in most areas of Kumaon on the coming Wednesday and Thursday. Monsoon has started leaving Rajasthan from Monday, so monsoon may leave Uttarakhand within a week to 10 days.
50 years old record was broken
Due to weakening of monsoon in Uttarakhand in the last few days, the weather had become dry and bright sunshine had made people sweat. In most areas of the state, mercury had jumped amidst dry weather. In Doon, mercury had broken a 50-year record on Monday. For the first time since 1974, the maximum temperature of Doon in September exceeded 36 degrees Celsius.
